Sundays at Sunnyhill

Our Sunday services are the focal point of our spiritual community. We gather in the Sunnyhill main room for inspiration, learning, friendship, and to share our individual joys and concerns.

Each service is unique. There are a wide variety of presentation styles and presenters. We offer a mix of minister-led services, presentations by Sunnyhill members, ministers from other churches, or invited guest speakers. To really get a feel for Sunnyhill, come several times.

Darwinism, Creationism, Religion, and Logic

Led by Murray Zeldman with Judy Kelly

A Victorian amateur undertook a lifetime pursuit of slow, meticulous observation and thought about the natural world, producing a theory 150 years ago that still drives the contemporary scientific agenda.  Creationists continually try to debunk what scientists have proven.  Join us for a discussion of both sides of this issue.

What Does It Mean To Be Patriotic?

Led by Julie Ann Sullivan

Can yo be patriotic and burn the flag?  If you buy from foreign countries, does that mean that you are not patriotic?  Everyone's definition of what it means to be patriotic is different.  WE will explore many of them, including mine on Independence Day.  Come join us.

Homeward Bound

Led by Martha Sweeney

"Home is where the heart is" and "There's no place like home."  Do these expressions mirror your feelings?  I have considered what poets, memoirists, songwriters, and movie dialogue writers have had to say.  I'd be interested in your thoughts, too.

What is the UU Faith: One Person's View of the Criteria and

Reality of UU Faith

Led by John Hemington

It is common to hear references to "our UU faith" or "our community of faith" or "our faith community" in various UUA publications and presentations, but what does this mean and, more importantly, what is our UU faith from the perspective of a member of a Unitarian Universalist Community - and does this matter?  Are we our community of faith or are we what the UUA tells us we are?  These are important issues for members of this community to discuss and evaluate as we move forward in selecting a permanent minister for this church.
